Part of my historical writing focuses on Babi Yar (September 29 – 30, 1941)
Babi Yar is a large ravine in Kyiv. It is the site of one of the largest massacres during World War II. The Nazi forces of Germany, under the guidance of the Einsatzgruppen, conducted the massacre that lasted two days. After the fall of Kyiv, there was an explosion at a German command post. The Nazis wrongly blamed the Jews, and they, along with Soviet prisoners of war and Roma gypsies, comprised the majority of the groups of people massacred. The Nazis attempted to hide the atrocity, however, people survived to tell their story.
There are many resources including libraries, museums and web searches that facilitate my research.
